Rainbow BridgeJust this side of
heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal
dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow
Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can
run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals
who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt
or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are
happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very
special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and
play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the
distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins
to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster
and faster. You have been
spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together
in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your
face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from
your heart. Then you cross
Rainbow Bridge together....

![]() Josie (aka Josephine) crossed the Bridge on November 9, 2009. She was my faithful companion for 19 1/2 years. She was with me most of my adult life, providing comfort during the bad times and enjoying the good times. She put up a good fight against renal failure for over a year, but liver problems snuck up. Katie nursed her through her final weekend, and Peter, Katie and I were all with her as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We love you and miss you Josapuss...

On December 14, 2007, we said goodbye to Tabitha. It was her time to cross over the Rainbow Bridge to a place with no pain or discomfort. We miss you Tabby-cat.
On September 13, 2011 Spook was MIA at breakfast time. He still did not show up by dinner or breakfast the next morning. We thought he may have been out exploring and accidentally gotten locked in a shed or garage. We found out about 2 weeks later from one of the neighbors that a solid black cat had been hit on the road behind us. We had tried to keep Spook indoors to prevent such a tragedy, but he would do just about anything - including jumping out a 2nd floor window - to remain a free roaming cat. He had a short life, but he was happy with it.
